چکیده

The surface structure and properties of a membrane largely determine its in-service performance during filtration process. Polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) hydrophobic is widely used in the separation oily wastewater because mechanical strength, but susceptible to oil fouling, whereas hydrophilic membranes are easily damaged water due their wettability resistant oil. advantages two then combined by modifying be maintain stability, antifouling performance. PVDF ultrafiltration were modified with mixture different concentrations polydopamine (PDA) polyethyleneimine (PEI) using deposition times (6, 12, 24 h) characterized SEM, FTIR, contact angle. Membrane was tested dead-end module for 60 min. PDA-modified showed decrease hydrophilicity from 88.1° 77.7° after being coated 0.5 g/L PDA 6 h, while addition 2 PEI, reached 64.6° SEM characterization presence aggregates formed polymerization process decreased PEI. This line results obtained test where smaller aggregate, greater flux produced. FTIR strong bond between PDA-PEI as concentration coating time increased.

Improved Permeate Flux of PVDF Ultrafiltration Membrane Containing PVDF-g-PHEA Synthesized via ATRP

Polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) ultrafiltration (UF) membrane combined with polyvinylidene fluoride-graft-2-hydroxyethyl acrylate (PVDF-g-PHEA) was fabricated via non-solvent induced phase separation (NIPS). In this study, PVDF-g-PHEA was synthesized via atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP) method, and then synthesized graft copolymer was characterized using Fourier transform infrared spe...

Evaluation of Vapor Deposition Techniques for Membrane Pore Size Modification

The suitability of three vapor deposition techniques for pore size modification was evaluated using polycarbonate track etched membranes as model supports. A feature scale model was employed to predict the pore geometry after modification and the resulting pure water flux. Physical vapor deposition (PVD) and pulsed plasma-enhanced chemical vapor deposition (PECVD), naturally, form asymmetric na...

Performance study of ceramic microfiltration membrane for oily wastewater treatment

Cross-flow microfiltration (MF) processes were studied with oily wastewater using a ceramic ( -Al2O3) membrane with 50 nm pore size. The nfluence of parameters such as transmembrane pressure (TMP), cross-flow velocity (CFV), oil concentration in feed, pH and salt concentration n the separation behaviors were investigated by the measurements of permeate flux, total organic carbon (TOC) removal e...
